After her family dies in a freak car accident, Jackie Howard’s life is turned upside down. She’s forced to leave her family’s penthouse apartment in New York for a farm in Colorado, where she’ll live with her new guardians, the Walters. The Walters have 12 sons (well, 11, but Parker acts just like the rest of them anyway), and most of them could be Abercrombie models. The boys throw wrench after wrench into her plans of perfection. Jackie has to figure out how to live her life and stay true to herself, all while staying true to her family as well.
Rating: 4.5/5 stars
I’ve been wanting to read this book for a long time, ever since the beginning of last year when I read Ali’s other book, ‘The Heartbreakers’ and I was instantly obsessed with her writing. Jackie is an easy character to like. She’s rich, but not stuck up or mean. I liked her dynamics with all the boys, and how she slowly integrated into their crazy household. All the boys had their own distinct personalities and interests, and their own way of dealing with her moving in. I also liked how Jackie’s past was brought up and more small details were revealed as the story went on. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who wants a good contemporary read. While I would’ve like a sequel, Ali wraps it up nicely at the end, so there’s not a crazy cliffhanger 🙂
